About the Artist

Luba Olonkina (born 1996, Severodvinsk) is a Russian-Norwegian Artist working across painting and photography. Currently residing in Norway.

Statement:

I paint portraits and landscapes about the invisible undercurrent of aliveness in all there is, bringing a sense of connectedness with ourself and nature.

Forest walks have inspired me since I was a child. As we walked I imagined fairytale creatures inhabiting these lands, filling the forest with life and wonder. Later my work has been inspired by studies of psychology, mythology, philosophy and astrology. As I started to explore my own inner life and the meaning of repeating events, deeper feelings, dreams and ways to transform inner states of being. Artist like Alex Grey, Hilma af Klint and the movements Surrealism and Expressionism are inspiring my work to this day as I aim to capture the wonder of life.

My prosess often begins with some kind of internal realization or a walk in nature. I use photography to capture the atmosphere or a specific object of interest. I often use dance or movement to explore a more complex subject matter, letting the movements translate feelings into something tangible. When painting I start off with a reference and at some point I let imagination and fantasy take over, capturing the feeling and atmosphere more than the object itself. The forest, plants and mountains, creatures, celestial bodies, humans, animals, abstractions and symbols are subjects that you will find in my work

Through my art I aim to invoke a sense of connectedness to nature and to ourselves, to embrace the wholeness of who we are as humans, as well as the whole of nature as not something outside of ourselves, but as a bigger part of our Self.

Luba's interpretations are esoteric with a focus on development and self-realization through a down-to-earth and practical approach.  She offers interpretations of: birth horoscope, annual horoscope, return horoscope for all planets, horoscope in-depth analysis, couple horoscope and 1:1 guidance over time based on transits  Available both in person and online, in English, Norwegian and Russian.  Luba has Astrological education at the professor level at the Astrology School Herkules, she is a member of the Astrological Association and debuted as a speaker there in 2024, as well as published an article in their member magazine.
